Torrevieja,
situated by the sea, is a first-class tourist centre. The two lagoons
that make up its wellknown Salinas (salt flats), now protected and
declared a Natural Park, convert the municipal area into an "island
of salt". Bathing in the lagoons is excellent for the health,
and recommended by doctors for its beneficial properties.
Torrevieja enjoys magnificent fine-sand beaches, squares, promenades,
gardens parks (totalling over 500,000 m2 in surface area), and a wide
variety of services of hotel accommodation, restaurants, and leisure
and sports activities.
