Santa Pola ,
this tourist and fishing town stretches along a quiet bay protected
by hills from the north winds. The landscape is made up of three differentiated
elements: the hills of the Sierra de Santa Pola, the coastal plain
with broad, fine-sand beaches, and the Natural Park of Las Salinas
(the salt flats). The lighthouse gives magnificent views over the
bay and the island of Tabarca.
Throughout the year, Santa Pola, celebrates various popular festivals,
all kinds of sports activities can be enjoyed, and the town offers
excellent cuisine based on the local seafood products. Essential visits
are the Roman ruins of the palmeral (palm grove), the 16th century
castle with its marine museum, the Aquarium and the harbour.
